Dragonette "Let It Go"

Single Package w/ Remixes Drops April 3rd

Let It Go” Stream Available Today!

Canadian electro-pop trio Dragonette burst onto the music scene with their infectious hit “Hello,” a collaboration with Martin Solveig that hit Top 10 in over 30 countries and achieved platinum status in the US. Now, the band is back with a brand new single, Let It Go, an energetic pop anthem with a pulsing beat. Bridging the gap between 2009’s Fixin To Thrill and the band’s highly anticipated third studio album, Let It Go will be released digitally on April 3rd.

Written and produced by Dragonette, Let It Go is a club-worthy track with a fist-pumping chorus and infectious rhythm. The single package contains remixes by Laidback Luke, The Knocks and Faustix & Imanos. For an early sneak peak, you can stream “Let It GoHERE. Feel free to post and share!

Along with the recently released single “The Right Woman,” which was featured on Diane Von Furstenberg’s compilation Proud To Be Woman Vol. 3, Let It Go marks the first of many new tracks to come from the Toronto band as they gear up to release a new full-length. After touring for two years, lead singer Martina Sorbara says that the prospect of writing a new album was intimidating, and the band wondered, “’How does this whole writing thing work again? Do we actually know how to do this part of our job? Are we ever going to write another song?’, and so on.’ But now somehow, miraculously we have a whole album's worth of songs that we all love and can't wait to unleash on stage and in stereo.”

Dan, Tina, and Joel will be hitting the road to play a combination of new tracks and old favorites, including performances at the Juno Awards and Coachella. Stay tuned for more news from Dragonette coming soon!

Maps & Atlases "Fever"

Maps & Atlases

Barsuk Records is excited to debut "Fever" (available for posting HERE), the new single off the upcoming Maps & Atlases full-length Beware & Be Grateful, out April 17th. "Fever" premiered via SPIN, who said the track "[allows] Davison's rounded, distinctive bray to float triumphantly over a direct, breezy concoction that feels indeed like a fever passing." The band has also curated their own blend of Intelligentsia coffee, the Chicago based roaster, available exclusively with the pre-order for the album at Barsuk.com.

Maps & Atlases will embark on a headlining tour this spring in support of the sophomore LP. The tour kicks off in their hometown, with a May 11th show at the Metro in Chicago, and wraps up on June 19th at Amsterdam Hall in St. Paul. Earlier this month, the band headed on a brief tour, which included a successful run at SXSW.

The album - which follows the Chicago-based band's acclaimed 2010 debut, Perch Patchwork - was recorded last year in a series of week-long sessions at Omaha's ARC Studios with producer Jason Cupp (Nurses, Good Old War) once again behind the board.

Since their formation in 2004, Maps & Atlases have captured the indie imagination with their extraordinarily artful amalgamation of polyrhythmic beats, elaborate melodies, and post-rock ingenuity. The band toured hard from the get-go, honing their kinetic time signatures and inventive energy through countless live shows as both headliner and alongside such artists as Broken Bells, Frightened Rabbit, Circa Survive, Cults, and RX Bandits.

Heaven "Falling Apple"

Heaven Premieres New "Falling Apple" Video with Paste

National Tour with Swervedriver Underway Behind 7" Split with
Adam Franklin & Bolts of Melody

"Heaven is a Brooklyn dream syndicate planted firmly between the 1985 crossroads of Paisley Underground shamble and noisepop blast...an abrasive blast of sheet-metal feedback doing its noble best to hide some spectral, Spectoral harmonies." - Village Voice

Listen to "
Falling Apple" and Watch the new video at Paste or YouTube

NYC trio Heaven, comprised of Matt Sumrow (The Comas, Dean and Britta, Ambulance LTD), Mikey Jones (The Big Sleep, Adam Franklin, Snowden), and Ryan Lee Dunlap (Fan-Tan), has premiered a new video for "Falling Apples" with Paste. The single is taken from their self-titled 7" released this year with Goodnight Records. After a week of stand-out sets at SXSW '12, Heaven will continue to tour throughout the country with London-based Swervedriver. The band will perform songs from their Heaven 7" and a forthcoming 7" split with Adam Franklin & Bolts of Melody, set for a May 1st release.

Sumrow and Jones created Heaven in the wake of touring and recording with other artists. Last summer, they both worked with Adam Franklin, of Swervedriver, and Sumrow has been busy playing with Dean Wareham for three years, scoring Andy Warhol films and revisiting Galaxie 500 tunes. In the most perfect combination, they have put their own stamp on psychedelia and new wave, giving a nod to the artists they have respected and played with, while also creating something modern and unique. With art and passion, Heaven brings you a loud psychedelic show. They must be both seen and heard.

“It was like if Michael Jackson, Paula Abdul, and the Spice Girls all came together and decided to have a sing/dance off.” - Charged FM

Brooklyn band AVAN LAVA produced the music for the flashy and fashionable Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin created advertisement for SPICEBOMB, the new fragrance for men Viktor & Rolf. You can see the ad HERE. They also scored original music for Nina Ricci’s Spring / Summer Ad Campaign HERE.

Earlier this month, AVAN LAVA made a last minute trip to Austin’s SXSW where they were invited to play the Ford Motor Companyand Kick Kick Snare showcase, along with the best in new emerging artists, at the legendary Stubbs BBQ, coming together at the intersection of new technology and new music. Along with the showcase everyone who came to Stubbs experienced the redesigned 2013 Ford Escape and its new entertainment system packed with the best in cutting edge tech and a musician focused sound system. The showcase lasted all day and included performances from the incredibly talented Johnny Stimson, ZZ Ward, Body Language, & Matthew Dear. Kick Kick Snare had an ace up there sleeve with surprise musical guests AVAN LAVA, who capped off the night with an explosive performance packed with energy, bright lights, synchronized dancing and a crowd so densely packed that it threatened an intervention from the fire marshall! See video HERE.

AVAN LAVA is a trio with singer TC and producers/musicians Le Chev and Ian Pai. Their live performances are with the help of musicians, vocalists and technicians Andrew Schneider (The Wooster Group), Drew Citron and Jo Lampert. Over the years, AVAN LAVA has worked as producers, composers, and mixers for bands like Cold Cave, Fischerspooner, CSS, Frankie Rose, SSION, Lemonade, Lia Ices — not to mention their work with prestigious The New York Philharmonic. Their remixes for bands like R.E.M., Passion Pit and New Villager have earned the band a reputation as one that matches their live show's energy with in-studio production chops.

The band began as a conversation between producers/musicians Le Chev and Ian Pai during an overnight bus ride after performing at the Sao Paulo Bienal with Fischerspooner. En route to Rio de Janeiro, Le Chev and Ian shared their love of Prince, Daft Punk, R&B, and indie music and contemplated how those things could all be melded into one sound, one band. A few months later, back in New York — while at a reading of “The Last Goodbye” a musical adaptation of Romeo & Juliet set to the music of Jeff Buckley — the two discovered vocalist TC and began what would become AVAN LAVA.

Ty Segall & White Fence "Hair"

Ty Segall & White Fence - Hair

Street Date, April 24th, 2012, Drag City

Here's a note from Ty Segall about the project:

Hair is the new collaboration from the two minds of Ty Segall and Tim Presley (White Fence), co-written, with shared and solo penned tunes dripping from each side. Presley plays the organ, guitar, percussion, voice, bass, harmony, vibes and faders and so does Ty. A complete collaboration. A new project. This is not the follow up to either members solo releases... it is the first LP of many in the Ty Segall and White Fence (AKA THE HAIR) roster.... so, Let it grow MAAAAANNN....

More about Hair:

Whether you’re walking, rolling and tumbling, flying, driving your car, or sitting still and meditating, wherever you go, Hair you are. You don’t always see the wild mystery that comes with everyday life on this rock, but your connection to the Eternal is always present. You just can’t see it. Today, you’re in luck - up to your frontal eye-lobes in luck. Ty Segall & White Fence have thrown their X-ray vision upon you and see the blood rocking through your veins and all the blood vessels in your brain. They can see them…

Hair it is - to stuff the cracks in your mental chrome dome. Hair for you to stare for awhile. Hair grows like grass beneath your feet, opens up your mind and reflects you in the fun house mirror - spreading past your borderlines, bouncing like rubber, growing and grooving towards the sky (with diamonds). Was it yesterday or yesteryear or is it happening now, on five-second synaptic delay? You were tall, you were high…you went farther than you’ve ever been.

Chanting to and from the dome is your living soundtrack and providing the Hairdressing for your psychic salad are Ty Segall and White Fence sitter Tim Presley with Sean Presley and Mikael Cronin along on the carpet ride. It unrolls from within them and in between them, and electricity takes many forms, from poppy lunges to acoustic strolls to freak-downs at end of the side. Hair gets tangled deep in clouds of guitars and drums and counter-riffs and percussion, then pressed flat with harmony vocals and compression. Whatever got them through the night, it launches the ship into the stratosphere. And Hair you are again.

Coming April 24th, 2012 from Ty Segall and White Fence: Hair.

The Walkmen "Heaven"

The Walkmen

Fat Possum Records is excited to announce that celebrated New York quintet The Walkmen will release their new album, Heaven, on June 5, 2012. The record is the band's sixth and was produced by Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Shins, Band of Horses) in Seattle. On May 3, they will headline The National-curated Crossing Brooklyn Ferry at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. In July, they will support Florence And The Machine on their North American tour.

The Walkmen just celebrated their 10th anniversary and are still comprised of the same members that started the group in 2001 - drummer Matt Barrick, multi-instrumentalist Pete Bauer, singer Hamilton Leithauser, guitarist Paul Maroon and bassist Walter Martin. The Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold sings harmonies on two songs on the record.

To pre-order the record, click HERE.

When describing Heaven, Leithauser portrays a band hitting maturity, comfortable in its mastery, after a decade together. "The detachment you can feel throughout our younger records is gone. We felt like it was time to make a bigger, more generous statement."

Adds Maroon, "When you're starting out, you're sitting there trying to come up with a big idea, but after a while, you learn about the process of writing. You learn about your friends in the band and how they work best."

It's been ten years since the Walkmen made their debut album, Everybody Who Pretended To Like Me Is Gone. Ten years since they mixed the lovingly recorded analogue tapes down to the cheapest CD burner they could find. Ten years since Leithauser snapped Maroon's arm in a celebratory wrestling match. Ten years since critics attached them to a New York scene they never wanted any part of. In the spring of 2011, the band played a series of 10th anniversary shows that demonstrated how far they have outstripped their peers: two sets over two hours, no filler, rapturously received. In contrast, fellow graduates from New York's celebrated rock revival class of '02 have burned out or faded from view.

The Walkmen are the great New York band of their generation, and in Heaven, they have delivered their third killer album in a row. Although Leithauser argues that "our biggest accomplishment is just being here," they are making the best music of their career and filling their largest venues yet.

All five members of the band have kids now and if the impact of parenthood is hard to pin down in a single lyric, there is definitely a new openness and emotional honesty to the songs. Most importantly, the old gang mentality has deepened, becoming something worthwhile and lasting.

"I'm very proud of what we've done. We've stayed friends and those friendships have grown," says Bauer. "We have survival experience and real love that children generate in your life."

Heaven is a definitive statement of purpose and commitment, from a band at the peak of its powers that is finally winning the recognition it deserves.

"...these songs, especially the stuttering "Dead Oaks" and the gorgeous "School Friends," comprise a winning collection of emotional songs about relationships, romantic and otherwise." - Under The Radar
