Ben Lee debuts new video for "Big Love" + Lee comes to NY (tomorrow) and LA (July 17th)

July 1 (New York, NY)   City Winery
July 17 (Los Angeles, CA)Troubadour
June 30, 2015 - (Burbank, CA):

Singer, songwriter and recording artist, Ben Lee, is coming to New York's City Winery (155 Varick Street) tomorrow, July 1st with Falls. Doors are at 7pm and Lee's set time is 8pm. Ben Lee is also performing at 9:15pm on Friday, July 17th at the Troubadour with Ryan Dilmore (7:15pm), Falls(7:50pm), and The Silverlake Chorus (8:45pm).

Ben Lee has revealed the very special video for his new single "Big Love" from his latest album Love is the Great Rebellion. The music video for "Big Love," directed by Peter Hardin, features a compilation of home footage from the personal collection of John and Ann Betar, the longest-married couple in the US, who are celebrating their 82nd wedding anniversary this year.

WATCH "BIG LOVE" VIDEO: https://youtu.be/QX3dHdxToZQ.

"The video, like the song, is a tribute to deep love and surrender," Lee says. "It's not a transient love. It's not teen romance, a crush, or an infatuation. It is a wellspring of hope and possibility that lies dormant in the human heart until it is unlocked with will, commitment, and tenderness. I found John and Ann Betar's story online and when I tracked down some video footage and witnessed the spark that is still so clear between them, I knew they were a living expression of the 'Big Love' I was talking about. This video is all them. It is culled from over 50 years of private family footage that they generously gave me to make this music video. Young people are so bombarded nowadays by messages about divorce and the failure of long-term relationships. I hope this video creates a counter-argument to that outlook. I hope it encourages people to love, and hope, and hold on, until the very end."

Love is the Great Rebellion finds the Lee returning to his roots reminiscent of his 2005 album Awake is the New Sleep, which went double-platinum in Australia and spawned the hit "Catch My Disease."  Lee reteamed with Awake's producer Brad Wood to record  Love is the Great Rebellion (Liz Phair, Veruca Salt), who Lee's has worked extensity with over the course of his nine solo albums, including 1995's Grandpaw Would, 1997's Something to Remember Me By, and 2009's The Rebirth of Venus.

LOVE IS THE GREAT REBELLION album: http://smarturl.it/BenLeeLGB

"When we talk about music's ability to change the world, perhaps it's in the smaller, day-to-day matters that music exerts its greatest influence. If so, Love Is the Great Rebellion fosters revolution one small gesture, one small pause at a time." - Diffuser.FM

As previously mention, Lee has also self-released A Mix Tape from Ben Lee, which is availablehere. Fourteen years in the making, the Mixtape features vocal contributions from Zooey Deschanel,Ben FoldsAzure RaySean LennonNeil Finn, and others. The Mixtape recordings are available on a "donate what you want" basis, beginning at $1, with all proceeds going to the Q'Ero Project, which supports the basic needs and development of the Q'ero people of Peru.

Le Butcherettes Stream New Song, "They F**k You Over", from Forthcoming Album, A Raw Youth

Buford, Wyo., June 30, 2015 – Le Butcherettes are giving fans an early preview of the music from the trio’s forthcoming album, A Raw Youth (Sept. 18, Ipecac Recordings), with a stream of the song “They F**k You Over” (http://bit.ly/1LREGD6).  The song premiered on Sunday via BBC Radio One’s Rock Show with Daniel Carter.

“It’s really the story of the band,” Teri Gender Bender said of the new song. “Back in Guadalajara, there was so much corruption and jealousy in the music scene. We got stabbed in the back so many times. It was about how hard it is to start a band and keep true to your vision with everyone trying to hold you back.”

Le Butcherettes have released two albums, their 2011 debut Sin, Sin, Sin and the 2014 offering Cry Is For The Flies.  Gender Bender “has a tremendous gift for capturing feelings and emotional processes that are difficult to narrate,” said NPR in a 2014 feature. The LA Weekly dubbed her the “most volatile woman in rock” and the Chicago Tribune’s Greg Kot proclaimed her a “breakout star.” Admirer Henry Rollins, in a 2014 interview with the Los Angeles Times said, “She’s a star. It’s like a great character in a movie.  You want to know what happens when the movie is over. You want to know the rest of the story.”
The band, rounded out by drummer Chris Common and bass player Jamie Aaron, recorded the album at RLP Studios (The Morgue Portable Disaster Unit) in El Paso, Texas.  Omar Rodriguez Lopez once again produced, as he has done for both previous Le Butcherettes’ releases.  Guests include Iggy Pop on “La Uva” and John Frusciante on “My Half.”

Matt Pond PA's The State Of Gold out Today; Watch "Take Me With You" video at The AV Club

The AV Club Premieres "Take Me With You" Music Video

Originally formed in Philadelphia (hence the PA), Matt Pond PA is a New York band with a unique sound featuring expansive melodies, shiny choruses and poignant string arrangements, all held together with the always-genial voice and reflective prose of the band's leader, Matt Pond.

At once uplifting and heart wrenching, Matt Pond PA songs have a way of reminding the listener to notice the beauty in the things often overlooked, which serves as a kind of metaphor for the band itself.

To say that Matt Pond PA have a cult following would be an understatement. While they might not be quite mainstream, they've enjoyed features on the musically-revered TV show The OC and a long-running Starbucks commercial. Attend any of their shows and you'll find troves of fans, many who have followed them for a decade or more. And this year, the band funded their new album, The State of Gold, via an entirely crowd-sourced Pledge campaign that far surpassed its initial goal.

Matt Pond PA are band that makes music for the joy of the art, heart that comes through in all ten studio albums to date. The State of Gold is magic number ten, and it finds Matt Pond PA exploring wilder places, both musically and lyrically, than ever before. NPR's First Listen called Matt Pond an "old-fashioned troubadour above all", a title he embraces. Pond wrote The State Of Gold in fits of inspiration throughout 2014, following a battle with writer's block that had him questioning his place in the music world. The new album introduces sleeker production chops and more assertive percussion with synthetic undercurrents that highlight the characteristic simplicity of the songs. However, TSOGis still very much a MPPA album at its core, delving into the space between hope and hopelessness, a place that Matt Pond traverses like no other.

Tearjerker Share New Single "Perfect"; Stay Wild Out July 17

Download Tearjerker's Single "Perfect" at Noisey
New Album Stay Wild Out July 17

"The band seems to know they've designed a lethally powerful hook, so they reinforce it with keyboards and a guitar, pumping it full of air until it takes to the sky, a great big orange blimp floating overhead. " - Pitchfork
With blissed-out melodies and plenty of feedback loops, Tearjerker's Hiding feels like a dreamy chant--totally authentic and exactly the thing you'd want playing on repeat for a full moon celebration or a chill car ride up the PCH." - NYLON
"If Sigur Rós went through a shoegaze period, it would sound a bit like Toronto's
Tearjerker."  - Flavorwire

Download: "Perfect" via Noisey or
Toronto-based band Tearjerker will release their new album  Stay Wild on July 17. The album is available for pre-order now via iTunesNoisey premiered the album's single "Perfect" which is the band is offering as a free download at the band's  SoundCloud page . Earlier this month the band, released the single "Obviously Wrong" which is available to purchase via iTunes or Tearjerker'sBandCamp page.

Tearjerker was born from the shared mindset that allowed for each member to play an equal part in the creative process.
Since 2009, the band has released two albums, an EP, a few remix projects, and a handful of singles, completely independently. The trio released the well-received Hiding EP in 2014, which featured the track "You Can," that Pitchfork described as "a soccer chant, something huge and relentlessly simple designed to ripple out over festival masses."
Everything, from the writing, recording, production and album artwork has come from the three of them. Tearjerker has released special edition cassettes of their albums with handmade packaging, lending a personal, tangible feel to each offering.
Their newest full-length record, Stay Wild, follows that same homemade ethic that Tearjerker is known for, and since its former label SQE closed its doors earlier in 2015, the band will be releasing the record completely independently.
Just as with past releases, the guys recorded and mixed the album at home, designed all of the artwork, and the physical versions of the album will have a handcrafted touch. "It's cool that we are able to do everything on our own," Tearjerker's Trevor Hawkins notes. "Mixing the album in the comforts of home allows me to pay attention to the smallest details without the worry of studio costs."
Stay Wild picks up where Hiding left off, as the band has again created a rich climate of atmospheric noise, that's more than just distortion.
"We spent a lot of time getting everything right with this record," Taylor Shute explains. "From a hanging note at the end of a song, to a barely audible sample in a breakdown in the middle of a track, we tried to make a record that will reward repeated listens."

Tearjerker, in its current form, operates on instinct and sincerity. They're less concerned with touring and selling singles than they are with being a prolific group that consistently unveils interesting new music. And it's important to them that each piece of that music exists in the world in palpable form. "We take pride in making a really cool product that we can hold," Hawkins says. "It's exciting for us as much as it is for anybody who is a fan."

Mumford & Sons Release New Video for "The Wolf"

Mumford & Sons Release New Video for "The Wolf"
48 Hours At Bonnaroo with Mumford & Sons
Directed by Marcus Haney

Mumford & Sons have released a new video for their song "The Wolf." The video charts the band over 48 hours at the 2015 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, as the band donned costumes and surreptitiously enjoyed the Bonnaroo experience amongst the masses of attendees. The video also features energetic footage of the band's Saturday night headlining performance at the festival. "The Wolf" video is directed by Marcus Haney (No Cameras Allowed). Watch at the link below:

"The Wolf" comes from the band's newest album, the recently released Wilder Mind out now on Gentlemen of the Road / Glassnote Records. Produced in London by James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, HAIM, Florence & The Machine), and recorded at AIR Studios in London, Wilder Mind features twelve new tracks written collaboratively by the band in London, Texas, and at Aaron Dessner's (The National) garage studios in Brooklyn.

Gone are the band's signature banjo and kick drum, replaced by a new emphasis on percussion and focused guitarwork that references rock traditions of the 1970s and 1980s. Experiments in texture and dynamics in early writing sessions in London led the band to a more widescreen, panoramic approach. And yet the songcraft, lyrical depth, and emotional urgency are unmistakably Mumford & Sons. Marcus Mumford describes Wilder Mind as "a development, not a departure", a conscious decision by the band to expand their horizons while holding true to the key elements of their sound.

Wilder Mind follows the 2012 release of Mumford & Sons' sophomore album, 2012's Grammy-winning Babel, the follow-up to their 2009 debut album, Sigh No More.
Mumford & Sons have been touring through the summer in support of Wilder Mind, having already completed headline shows in Brooklyn and Chicago, and at Bonnaroo, with more appearances to come at Outside Lands, and Squamish, and their own Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers. For the full itinerary, please see below.

The band's US shows include two more Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers in Walla Walla, WA; and Salida, CO; following successful Stopovers which took place in Seaside Heights, NJ; and Waverly, IA. For full lineups and details, visit http://www.Gentlemenoftheroad.com.

X , the long-time leaders of the L.A. Punk Scene, have announced more of their summer, live concert tour plans. The original line-up will perform at the KCRW “Sound in Focus” Annenberg Live Series on August 8th with Dwight Yoakam. The concert is free for all ages; those interested in attending need to RSVP at KCRW.com. X have also been confirmed to perform at this year’s Hopscotch festival on September 12th in Raleigh, NC as well as September 19th at the Kaaboo Festival held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, CA.

As was previously announced, X will bring their 4-Album Show plays to Orange County in July. In addition, an east-coast / mid-west swing will bring the quartet to Ridgefield, CT on July 17th before working their way south to DC and then across to the mid-west with plays in Cleveland, Detroit and Chicago. X will then head east again with a show in Boston before wrapping up with 3 shows at the City Winery in NYC, August 1-3.

Formed in 1977, X quickly established themselves as one of the best bands in LA's flourishing first wave punk scene. Featuring vocalist Exene Cervenka, vocalist/bassist John Doe, guitarist Billy Zoom, and drummer DJ Bonebrake, their debut 45 was released on the seminal Dangerhouse label in 1978. While these songs were later re-recorded for their second album, the versions on Adult Books / We're Desperate reveal X's raw talent for totally sincere songwriting and stripped-down rock n' roll.  This past April, the band re-issued that first single, in its original 7-inch format, as limited edition colored vinyl.

The original line-up of X remains John Doe, Exene Cervenka, Billy Zoom, and D.J. Bonebrake.
